Sunday Mix : DJ Pdogg

Happy Sunday Luvs!

Sundays are considered inspirational days of worship for many cultures. The greatness of God is He gives each of us a gift and when we use it to glorify Him its the ultimate sign of appreciation. DJ Pdogg has done just that by becoming a successful dj that mixes ranges of Top 40, Christian Hip Hop, or Old School Classics to enthuse his audiences. His career has taken him from private events all the way to touring with Grammy award winning Christian rapper Lecrae. I got a chance to talk to DJ Pdogg about his experiences of becoming a dj, Liberty University where I'm currently attending graduate school, and how he balances music and family.

Here's how it all went down...

When did  you decide to professionally dj and how did you come up with your name?

PD:  "I started very young loving music and djing it came natural to me. While I was at Liberty University I would perform at various venues and I got to connect to alot of people. I've performed at all types of events from concerts to private events. A major highlight was performing with Lecrae on 106 & Park but I've always attested my Faith in God that anything was possible. My name Pdogg stands for "Perry Depends on God's Grace."

What sets you apart as a dj from others?

PD: "I think its my ability to create great mixes people enjoy and I'm able to balance secular and sacred music. I've really enjoyed mixing inspirational music people can get a message from."

Tell me about your podcast radio show.

PD: "I have a radio show called @Djpdogg #Inthemix and I play the best mixes of hip hop and rhythmic music. Its a great time and I'm able to really be creative with having my own show."

How is the balance of family and being a professional dj?

PD: "Its a great balance but of course at times its hard being away from your family when your touring. They understand how much I love music and how this also provides for them".

DJ Pdogg shows us that when you put your trust in your Faith everything else will fall into place. He works actively in the Durham community doing service and when he's not touring he's inspiring youth around him. Its evident that when you go after your dreams and let your gifts make room for you the possibilities are endless. Touring all over the World Dj Pdogg has had experiences that many aspire to but the reason I like to showcase local talent here in NC is for people to realize your on as limited as your dreams. Its not about where your from but who you follow.
