Happy Wednesday Luvs!
I had the pleasure of attending a dear friend's CD release concert this past weekend. I remember my first time hearing him play was at a local art space called the "202 Lounge" in Durham in 2009. It was there that I heard Mr. Marcus Anderson play the saxophone for the first time. I truly admire musicians and the work it takes to perfect their craft. Mr. Anderson had the amazing opportunity to play and tour with Prince. This fellow North Carolina Central University Eagle Alum has truly soared and is still breaking records with his music on the Billboard charts. The concert was amazing to say the least. Held at the Cary Arts Center in Cary, NC, it felt like I was in a major city in a large scale venue. This intimate setting allowed ticket holders to have a full on dance party with Mr. Anderson. My favorite song of the night was "Will Power" an endearing dedication to his manager and of course the electrifying Prince tribute had us all singing. The showmanship and creativeness of the concert was well crafted with artistic design. I've been to many concerts but I must put this one at the top of my list for sure. After the concert I had a few moments to catch up with an old friend about his latest project, working with Prince, and what's next for him in 2017.
So here's how it all went down....
Why did you name your new CD "Limited Edition"?
Limited Edition is a plethora of songs and it symbolizes gold. Gold meaning limited as a precious mineral and I view music the same way. So that's why I named the album "Limited Edition" and that's why the color is gold.
How was your experience working with Prince?
Oh my God it was probably the best experience of my life! A lot of the elements of my show are things that I have learned from him.
What's next for you?
Pushing the brand, making more music, and putting it out to the World. I try to do what I can to heal the World through music.
The life lesson in this post is that you are only limited when you stop dreaming. Marcus took his gift of music and it became an outstanding career for him. His relentless determination to climb the charts has made him reach #1 on Billboard and Amazon.com. He's traveled the World with one of the greatest musicians in American music. How many of us can say we played for Prince? Simply amazing. Now he's embarking on a new journey of entrepreneurship by catering to coffee lovers everywhere with AND Coffee, a fine coffee available for purchase at https://www.andproducts.net/ or https://www.marcusanderson.net/.
We wish Marcus Anderson much success in all of his future endeavors and we look forward to the next time he performs in NC!
