Happy Monday Luvs!
A few weeks ago we had our "The Meet-Up Singles Mixer & Charity Dating Auction" on Saturday, February 17th at the beautiful Unscripted Durham Hotel. Many professional singles connected in an intimate setting for inviting conversations, delicious cocktails, and music powered by DJ Rem.E. This is our 3rd single's mixer and I must say the best part is at each one it's a different set of singles. I know for many it's not easy to put yourself out there and I admire how each time our guests engage with one another. We've even seen couples that have lasted come out of our 2017 mixers. I'm a firm believer that in order to move forward, especially in dating, you must be true to yourself and just go for it. Okay it didn't work with him or her and that's fine. They just weren't the person for you but who knows you might meet someone new that is but that takes effort. The past few years I've met many professional singles in the Raleigh-Durham (RDU) area and I'm glad we were able to connect many of them. This year we kicked the year off in fundraiser mode by raising money for NC high school seniors scholarships and the proceeds from this event are 100% to benefit those students. That's the beauty of living in RDU, the appreciation of entrepreneurship and a sense of community.
A hot topic of discussion amongst my girlfriend's circle is "Dating After". Whether it's after a casual fling, relationship, engagement, or marriage the dynamics of dating after those experiences are sometimes difficult to accept. Sure we laugh and toast to better with our glasses of wine but what I'm most proud of is my single girlfriends in the circle making their schedule available for dating again. I found myself conflicted since my marriage ended and wondering what would "dating after" look like? I've had some very interesting experiences I must say but I've enjoyed connecting other amazing singles I know. One of my goals for 2018 is "Go For It" which is a dedication to just living life and as for dating you have to play in order to win. So a few ladies played and payed for our bachelors to benefit charity!
Yes, the men were nervous and yes the ladies were enjoying every minute of it lol! It was a 2018 twist on an old school matchmaking technique. A special thank you to the staff of Little Dipper Fondue-Durham for being our date night location! Make sure you follow them on Instagram @littledipperdurham ! Typically, I always write a point of reflection for my blog posts. This time I can honestly say I simply enjoyed the experience. I think everyone had a great time and that's the best part. It was not complicated, it was fun, it was low-pressure, and it intriguing which in my opinion is how dating should be. We've had 3 successful singles mixers but now it's time to get with the couples. So stay tuned !
Until next time ladies and gentleman this is The Lux Blog!
Editor's Note: A special thank you to the Queen's Committee of Drucilla Chapter #19, Order of the Eastern Star, PHA. It's because of your service we were able to donate to such a worthy cause to benefit NC high school senior scholarships. Thank you to our sponsors and the staff of Unscripted Durham Hotel !
